We are back home, trying to adapt to the european rythm.
We had an excellent trip and really thank you for the
The hotels were all very well chosen. We did not stay in the
Desert Resort as we were the only visitors. Would have loved
to stay there, a next time maybe, but it was obvious to
regroup everyone in the Castle. The
Castle had its advantages too, easy to go for a stroll in town
and we had an excellent dinner on the roof.
The hotel in Pushkar was very quiet, the ones downtown are
probably very noisy, although the sister hotel at the Pushkar
lake must have a very nice view.
Pal Haveli was located very well, and seeing the fact we were
a bit sick then, it was very easy to go for a walk around the
market. The people were also very helpful seeing the fact we
were not feeling that well and the
rooftop restaurant was just beautiful, the view alone was
worth being there.
The hotel in Udaipur was supreme, we could even choose our
room, well that's the advantage to travel during low season .
The food was also excellent. We had a very good guide and
enjoyed the boat trip.
When arriving in Bundi, we did not really know what too
expect. At first sight, we thought this would not go smoothly.
The younger brother of the owner was also very nervous, but
all turned out very well, and the dinner
was marvelous. We could have stayed another night to explore
Bundi a bit more, as we had spend some time along the road in
Chittorgarh and did not have that much time left in Bundi.
People in the town of Bundi
were also very nice.
The organization at Ranthambore was super. And on top of that
we had beautiful tiger sights. We did not understand the bill
at Ranthambhore Safari Lodge, it seemed to have a lot of taxes
they could not really explain.
But now we understood what happened. Everything we ordered in
the dining room was seen as 'room service' and an extra 5% was
charged on top of the bill, except for the buffet. We did not
get room service, so the
'ser charge' as they call it, was not correct. If we had know
the system, we would have adapted the way of tipping. But on
the other hand, we must say that the people were very helpful.
The A/C did not work correctly
and stopped regularly, so they replaced the A/C in our room.
Compared to 'Ankur Resort' we stayed in last year, this lodge
was much better.
Jaipur was also very well organized and a good hotel, very
nice. It was a quiet location and we had more than what we
needed. The guide was also very good and spoke excellent
We were also very happy to meet you in person and have to
thank you for the nice dinner.
On our way to Agra, around Fatehpur Sikri, the road was closed
and had to do a detour, driving thru little roads. Bhawani was
a bit nervous as he did not find a place to pay the taxes to
enter the U.P., even the police
could not really help, but we enjoyed the scenery.
We were just in Agra to visit the Taj. The hotel was ok, but
nothing special. The Taj Mahal stays of course one of the most
beautiful things in the world, well that's my impression. We
also asked Bhawani to join us to
the Taj Mahal, it was not easy and had to ask this many times
in advance. It is probably against the culture, against the
rules. But seeing the fact we had nothing in the car, all was
in the hotel, and we had been in the
Taj Mahal the year before, we knew where to look, we thought
it would be nice if he could join us. He seemed a bit
uncomfortable but also looked very happy. We were happy too.
We wanted him to join as a kind of
thank you for the excellent driving and nice time we had
together. We felt very comfortable and safe, which is
important. (I had a very bad car accident last Summer, and
escaped by miracle when a truck lost control,
flipped on its side, fell on my car when driving next to the
truck, and only the drivers seat was protected, the rest of
the car was all folded together. No one really understood how
i got from under the truck with a few
scratches. I believe i still have a mission and see things
different than before).
Like last year, we will send some pictures for Bhawani later
in July or August. We will send it to your address, so we're
sure it will arrive safely.
Raju, thanks again for everything. I recommended your services
to some colleagues, hopefully they'll find their way to India
All the best and we're looking forward visiting some part of
India again. We're not too sure when or what, but we will
certainly come back.
Best regards and a very nice day,
Caroline and Marc
